The 11th annual WoO will be welcoming back the music ethnoligist Rolf Irle as a major contributor to the fair and exhibition program at the FZH Vahrenwald.
Everyone wishing to get away from the fair frenzy to a calm place will find an exciting insight into exotic (music) worlds in his showroom on the ground floor.
The music ethnologist and pedagogist Rolf Irle of the Center of World Music at the Hildesheim University will be exhibiting about 60 exotic and extremely rare music instruments from all over the world on Sat., the 13th and Sun., the 14th March.
The main focus of this year's exhibition will be on the showcasing of the unusual and impressive instruments used by shamans and medicine men to heal the sick in the regions of Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
Besides that the exhibition will be showing items used in mostly secret rites of passage for boys/men and girls/women, which are often restricted by harsh taboos between the genders.
As in the former years, many exhibition items can be touched and tried out by visitors. Especially childern are more than welcome to do so!
